Bobby Shirley

Bobby Shirley, 64, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, April 12, 2024 at his residence.

Born August 2, 1959 in Los Angeles, California, he had lived in Dawson County since 1981 having moved from Cherokee County.  Bobby worked many years in the logging and trucking industry.  He enjoyed working on hot rods and motorcycles.  He was very dedicated to his grandson.  An ordained minister, he loved serving his Lord and Master Jesus Christ.  Preceding him in death were his mother, Shirley Jackson Shirley; brothers, J. L. “Byrd” Shirley, Leslie Shirley; sister, Rhonda Mae Padgett; and niece, Brittany Mae Whitt.

Surviving are his daughter and son in law, Amanda “Doodle Bug” Shirley and James Cox, Dahlonega; grandson, Bobby Dale Cox, Dahlonega; father, Lester Shirley, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Maria and Larry Revella, Liberty, Missouri, Dibbie Whitt, Dawsonville, Penny and Kenneth Evans, Dawsonville, Kaye and Wayne Neighbours, Dawsonville, Kelley and Jordan Reece, Gainesville, Carmen and Keith Roberts, Gainesville, Jamie Shirley, Gainesville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Barry Payne, Rev. Carrel Pruitt, and Rev. Jason Hamby will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
