Allen J. Bryans

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 9, 2024

Allen J. Bryans, Sr., 84 of Flowery Branch died Tuesday April 9, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Braselton.

In 1951, at the young age of twelve, Allen began working as a paper carrier for the Atlanta Constitution, delivering papers on his bicycle in midtown Atlanta. As a young man, Allen traveled frequently to Flowery Branch, Ga. to enjoy boating and being on the beautiful waters of Lake Lanier. Due to a mutual love of water and boating, he met his longtime friend, Alan Wayne and worked for the Wayne brothers from the late 50's to the early 70's. Alan Wayne introduced Allen to the love of his life, Janice Clark Bryans. While driving by Janice's home in Flowery Branch in 1961, Allen noticed Janice outside her home in Flowery Branch, mowing her daddy's front lawn. She was a beautiful young lady and was wearing short shorts with buckles on either side. She made an undeniably kind impression on Allen and that's where love began!  Allen and Janice were married for 62 years. After retiring from Aqualand Marina, Allen had a boatyard for many years. He served on the Flowery Branch City Council for 16 years and was proud of his service to the City of Flowery Branch and the growth of the town during his service.

Allen is preceded in death by his mother; Laura Willingham Bryans, his father; Eugene Franklin Bryans, father-in-law; Roy Edward Clark, mother-in-law; Sylvia Ruth Clark, second mother-in-law; Alice Williams Clark, his brother; Robert “Bob” Bryans, his nephew; Robbie Bryans and brother-in-law; Don Cone.

He is survived by his wife; Janice Clark Bryans, his sons; Allen Bryans Jr. and Shannon Bryans (Tina), his grandchildren; Misti Bryans, Dayton Dowdy, Parker Silvers, Sylvia Kaylee Bryans, Bella Kate Bryans, and great grandson; Jude Bryans. Other members survived by Mr. Allen are his sister; Virgina Cone, niece; Elyse Bryans, nephew; Craig (Kim) Bryans, niece; Luann Bryans, nephew; Brian (Kathy) Cone, and nephew Kevin (Julie) Cone and all of their children.

Mr. Allen enjoyed Sunday afternoons with his family, naps with his beloved cat; Tripp, Georgia/Falcons football, a good game of Solitaire, a John Wayne book, politics, Lemon Icebox pie, coin collecting and stock market chats with his dear friend, Carlos. He will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind- but now, he is fully healed and restored in the arms of Jesus.

Special Thanks: Longtime caregiver and dear family friend; Laura Roadcap, Dr. Sean Sumner, Dr. Kim Trahn, The staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, the PineCrest Baptist Church family as well as all the prayer warriors throughout this journey.
