Sarah Ann Duncan Dean, age 84, of Toccoa, formerly of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Born on November 3, 1939, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Maye Tench Duncan. Mrs. Dean retired from Holcomb’s Office Supply after 21 years of service. She was a member of Harvest Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for a number of years. In earlier years, she worked as a para-pro with the school system, where she also practiced speech therapy in a time before it was commonplace. Mrs. Dean was known for her artwork that was displayed at her church, as well as other places. She was an avid gardener and cook, who also enjoyed playing the piano in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Randolph, Maurice, A.C., and Steven Duncan, and her sister, Ellen Dias.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Mack Dean of Toccoa; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Thomas (Jim) of Toccoa; grandchildren, Shelley Akerman (Thomas), Joshua Goodbar (Hannah), and Kylie Ware (Austin); great grandchildren, Annabelle Goodbar, Jonah Goodbar, and Beckham Ware; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Cornelia Christian Church with Ministers Rick Cox, David Terrell and Mr. Dwight Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Harvest Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm until the service hour on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Cornelia Christian Church.
