Donald Ray Stubbs

Obituary Date: Sunday, April 7, 2024

Donald Ray Stubbs slipped away to his heavenly home on April 7, 2024, at his home in Denton, Texas.

He was born in Dallas, Texas on September 10, 1942, to Alonzo Harold Stubbs and Goldie Mae Harris Stubbs. In 1961 he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and entered the University of North Texas where he joined the fraternity Phi Kappa Alpha. He completed his BBA and MBA at Southern Methodist University.  Over his career he was employed by Collins Radio Company, Rockwell International and Boeing. His areas of expertise were budgets, negotiating contracts, cost accounting, and mentoring.  Donald loved the Lord and served in many capacities as a church member in his lifetime, including Chairman of Deacons, Finance, SS Superintendent, Master of Ceremonies, Junior Church, and others.  Donald enjoyed traveling with friends and family, which included trips to 45 states and 30 countries. His other hobbies included softball, baseball, golf, and bridge. He was an Atlanta Braves fan and felt fortunate to have played golf at St. Andrews Links in Scotland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold Jr. (Margie) Stubbs, David (Ida) Stubbs, Michael (Anita) Stubbs, and sister Linda (Gene) Gentry.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rochelle. Lundberg Stubbs; daughter Daphne (Sean) Daniels of Denton; son Derek Stubbs of Flowery Branch, Georgia; three grandchildren including Adrian Daniels (Robbie) Winn of Ft. Worth; Aubrey Daniels and Alden Daniels of Denton. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 3 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Big Canoe Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.
