Susan Jeanne Sinagra

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 31, 2024

Susan Jeanne Sinagra died peacefully on Easter morning, March 31, 2024, after a series of health setbacks. Few ever came to Susan’s home without being offered a meal. Holidays were filled with tables of family and friends including guests who needed a place to enjoy a family meal. She was a great cook even prior to her classical culinary training, but what Susan really embodied was love of family and friends. She truly was the most fun person anyone could meet. Her best friend recalls laughter being the soundtrack of her house.
On May 15, 1956, Susan Jeanne Butler was born at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was the eldest of six children born to Louis and Dorothy Butler. She attended Catholic elementary school in Dallas, Texas where one of her first memories in school was being marched out of class and into church following the nearby assassination of JFK. The Butler Family moved to Decatur, Georgia where Susan graduated from Tower High School in 1974. When she was eighteen years old, Susan put her college career on hold to help run the family business following the death of her father. This would be the beginning of her life long career of owning and operating family businesses. In fact, it would be at her family's Hess Station in Morrow, Georgia that she met her future husband. Charles Sinagra had his best friend drive to the gas station, where he pointed to the beauty who was hard at work and said, “I am going to marry that girl”. They were married for 47 years at the time of Susan’s passing. During their life together, Susan would raise their four children, graduate from The Culinary Arts Institute of Atlanta in 1994, and co-manage three ice companies, a gas station, and a restaurant. Susan's lust for life was truly contagious. She is survived by her husband, Charles, her daughter Patricia and son-in-law Andrew, her twin sons Michael and Samuel, daughter-in-law, Lisa Marie, grandsons Jase and Luke, sisters Barbara O'Callahan and Bernadette Scruggs, and brother Thomas Butler.

Services honoring Susan will be held Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Friday April 12, 2024 at 1:30 P.M.
