Jack Ferguson Borders

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 2, 2024

Jack Ferguson Borders, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on April 2, 2024, in his hometown of Gainesville Georgia.

Born to the late Melba Borders Bell and Jack Bell on December 8,1956. Jack was a 1975 Graduate of Gainesville High School and true native of Gainesville through and through.

Jack met the love of his life, Kathy, while attending Truett McConnell College on a tennis scholarship. He would often play tennis with friends in the community as it was an enjoyable activity for him.

Jack and Kathy were introduced in 1977 through a close family friend and built a long lasting and loving relationship. They were wed in Holy Matrimony on March 25, 1978. To this union, two beautiful children (Armond and Tara) were born.

Jack, affectionately known as “Fergie Burger” or “Uncle Buzzard” was a rock to his family, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, as well as sharing his great sense of humor.

He would playfully tease his brothers and sisters-in-law and poke fun at the youngsters in the family. Jack worked at Norton Abrasives for twenty years.

He was most recently employed within the industry, with various companies as a Skilled Machinist and Line Leader.

Jack was a proud member of Mt. Calvary Church of God Holiness under the leadership of Elder Roger Owens. Jack will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his mother Melba Borders Bell, father Jack Bell, and his sister Phyllis Stephens. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 Years, Kathy Borders of Gainesville Georgia; Son Armond(Christy) Borders of Lawrenceville Georgia; Daughter Tara Borders of Gainesville Georgia; 2 Granddaughters Zion Borders and Zoie Borders. Sister Joyce(Lewis) Bell of Gainesville Georgia and Brother Ricky(Susan) Dukes of Oakwood Georgia. Mother-In-Law Mary Frances Harris; Brothers-In-Law Lester(Cheryl) Harris, Homer Lynn(Mona) Harris, Joe Harris, Jay Harris, and Erskin Harris; Sisters-In-Law Subrena(Horace) Glenn, Vannessa(Wayne) Peake, and Matilda Harris. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Special long-time friends: Darrell Harris and Winston Dorsey.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Mount Calvary Church of God, Gainesville, GA.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, between the hours of 12:00 PM- 5:00 PM at Wimberly Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends at Mount Calvary Church of God between the hours of 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024.
