Mr. Daniel “Danny” Allen Anderson (81) beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on March 29, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Athens, GA, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering devotion.
Son to Charles “Al” and Alfreda Anderson, Daniel was born on October 7, 1942, and spent most of his life in Western NY. He was a proud United Auto Workers Union member serving 41 years with General Motors working his way from Foundry Worker to Water Treatment Operator where he ensured water was pure and clean.
He was a provider in every sense of the word, exemplifying the value of hard work, perseverance, and self-confidence. He lived an honest life of simple pleasures creating masterpieces not with a brush or clay, but a tapestry of a fresh-cut lawn, pruned trees, happy dogs, and a loving family. Using honor and duty as his artistry, he carved precious moments teaching his children how to swim, fix a car, and face adversity head-on; raising them to be fiercely independent, and to always do what is right.
In late February, Danny faced a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer and began a journey fraught with difficulty. His family formed an army and together they fought with a mission to make the most of the precious time remaining and ensure that these moments were surrounded with the comfort and support he provided to them and others throughout his life. As Stuart Scott stated, “…You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and the manner in which you live” Danny beat cancer by living with honor, choosing to be the pillar of strength for his family, and fearlessly living his life the best way he knew how.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Alfreda and Charles Anderson, and his brother, Charles Anderson
He is survived by his loving wife, Molly Louise Dibble Anderson; children, Kevin Anderson (Natalie), Kristen Andrews, and Andreia Anderson; his siblings, Donna Anderson, Richard Anderson, Mary Ann Benders, Gloria Lekki, Emma Zalewski; grandchildren, Dolores (Anderson) Brock (Matthew), Faith (Anderson) Kappler (Mitchell), and Kylie Andrews; and 6 great-grandchildren, Selah, Willow, Justice and Daniel Kappler and Isabella and Addalynn Brock.
