Michael P. Eline, age 71, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Born on June 19, 1952, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Barton Eline and Anna Marie Smith Eline. Mr. Eline was a police officer for 28 years having worked at Volusia County, Florida and Seminole County, Florida Sheriff’s Departments. He served as a part of the secret service for President Ronald Reagan when he attended the Daytona 500. Mr. Eline also worked as a state trooper, welder, and woodworker. He was a numismatist who enjoyed collecting old coins and money. Mr. Eline was of the Christian faith and his favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine.” First most, he was a husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Papa to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bud Eline and Barry Eline.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Johnnie Evans Eline (female) of Mt. Airy; daughter, Yva Eline of Washington; stepson, Jerimy Gordon of Clarkesville; stepdaughters, Heather Gordon of Clarkesville and Stephanie Whitney (Jason) of Clarkesville; grandchildren: Ashley Mulkey (Zac), Megan Whitney, and Justin Whitney; and great-grandchildren: Braylon, JoAnna, and Ella.
No formal services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made “In Memory of Michael P. Eline” to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
