Walter "Hobert" Lunsford, of the Suches, Georgia, passed away on March 28, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on September 28, 1930, in Suches to the late Joel Lunsford and Fleta Abercrombie Lunsford, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering faith.
In addition to his parents, Hobert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Henrietta Lunsford, and his siblings Clyne Woody and Yvonne Burns.
He is survived by his daughters, Karren (Tom) Humphrey of Dahlonega and Starr (Mike) Timmons of Canton; his grandchildren Lauren Justus (Lee Rodney), Nathan (Emily) Humphrey, Emily Humphrey, and Elise Humphrey; and his great-grandchildren Keegan Justus, Slate Justus, Huxley Justus, Rainey Justus, Kodi Humphrey, Makenna Humphrey, and Baylin Kelley. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
Hobert's life was defined by his passion for serving others. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, tending to his land with care, or overseeing his pallet mill in Suches, he approached each task with a selfless spirit and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those around him. He found great joy in the fellowship at the Coffee Shop, where he could often be found swapping stories with his dear friends.
Above all else, Hobert loved his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he took great delight in watching them grow and thrive. His faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, was the cornerstone of his life, and he served as an active member and deacon of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches, where he will be missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. A Memorial service to celebrate Hobert's life will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, with the Reverend George Burch officiating. Family and friends will have the opportunity to share their memories of Hobert during the service. Private interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
