Mike Sosebee, 82, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 at Northside Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born December 10, 1941 to the late Willard and Edith Sosebee, Mike was raised in Pickens County and had been a resident of Dawsonville for over 50 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he spent his career working with gas and welding supplies until his retirement from Airgas following 50 years of service. Mike was the longest serving city councilman in Dawsonville history, serving multiple terms over 30 years. He was a member of New Life Church of God in Dawsonville. A hard worker and very devoted to his family, he was a beloved husband who enjoyed coaching his sons through the years and was his grandchildren’s biggest fan.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary Sosebee of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Shonda Sosebee of Gainesville, Jason and Cathleen Sosebee of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Conner, Thomas “T.O.”, Lincoln; sisters, Joe Ann Dorsey, Joyce Evans, both of Jasper; sister-in-law, Judy Cox of Dawsonville; other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Owens will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 26 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
