Carolyn Gail Hilton, 67 years old from Braselton, GA, passed away on March 13, 2024 after a year-long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was at home surrounded by family and loved ones. Carolyn was born June 9, 1956 in Hampton, VA and was the daughter of Marvette (Nichols) Turner and George C Hilton Jr who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers, George C Hilton. III and James A. Hilton, a sister Catherine H. Warner, a Niece Diana Warner, a Nephew Alex Warner, and her Best Friend & CFO of Spirit Heart Fran Shaddix.
Carolyn graduated from Bethel High School Class of 1974 and went to nursing school. After a year of nursing school she decided to go into the US Army where she spent 3 years working as an image interpreter.
Following the military service, she entered the Piping, Drafting and Design Apprentice School Program at the Newport News Ship building & Dry Dock Company. She then moved to Atlanta, GA and continued working with companies Lockwood Green, Hargrove Engineering & Caldwell Electrical Co (CEC) as a Senior Electrical Designer. At the same time pursuing her real passion & dream of having an equine therapy program to help At Risk Kids & Rescued Horses come true.
She settled into a life in Braselton, Formed Spirit Heart Therapeutic Riding; a 501c3 non-profit in 2010 & fulfilled her dream of empowering children & their families through the unconditional love of the horse. She worked with children suffering emotional, physical & mental disabilities & touched & empowered over 20 families each month during sessions with Spirit Heart Therapeutic Riding. She shared the joy of unconditional love and empowerment through natural horsemanship and her love of horses. She also shared her love of music with all who met her- guitar, Indian flute, drums and piano. She taught life skills to many children as well as Adults in need of community service hours for Barrow & Jackson Counties. Over 500 workers came through the therapy program for community service hours. She also gave community service hours to college students while teaching them life skills.
Arrangements are being made for her to join her mom in a memorial celebration of life and spreading of the ashes in VA where family is located.
