Pastor Roderick Cardell Vasser was born December 22, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of three children born to Arzabria and Annette Vasser and their only son. Roderick met his wife while they worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. They married on May 10, 1991.
Three daughters, Meghan, Chanel, and Candace, came to this union. Roderick was referred to as Cardell by his family and friends. Cardell was born and raised in the church, but in December 1993, just before his daughter Chanel was born, he gave his life to the Lord in the basement of his home.
Cardell faithfully served at Colony All Nations Pentecostal Church in Chicago, Illinois, under the leadership of Bishop Louis Carter for over twenty years. He was elevated to the ministry as a deacon, then a minister, and then a pastor. Known as a fireball preacher and prophet, Cardell often said that he wanted to be an asset to the Kingdom and not a liability.
Cardell pastored Truth and Deliverance Church for three years until his health would not allow him to continue. Though not pastoring he never stopped witnessing and working to bring souls to Jesus Christ. Cardell loved his family and friends. As a husband, he shopped for his wife Nichole and ensured that she was provided for and felt loved and safe. As a father, he was stern but loving. He made sure that they had gifts each Valentine’s Day to know that they were his Valentines.
Cardell became grandfather with the birth of Rachel, who he loved spending time with. His grandchildren Rachel, Isla Rose, Iria Grace and Kaleb were his joys. Cardell was a man of faith. When the Lord called his family to move to Georgia, Cardell took charge as the head of the family to push the move forward. Cardell enjoyed having his grandchildren together in one home, so he could talk with them and get lots of hugs and kisses.
Pastor Vasser leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 32 years, Nichole Vasser, three daughters, Meghan Robinson (Derrick), Calumet City, IL, Chanel Vasser-Vaughan (Matthew) and Candace Vasser, Buford, GA; four grandchildren, Rachel Robinson, Isla Rose Vaughan, Iria Grace Vaughan and Kaleb Vaughan, father, Arzabria Vasser; two sisters, Carolyn Vasser and Artavia Witherspoon; goddaughter Kelsey Edmond and a host of aunts, cousins and friends.
