Wayne Hugh Davidson, age 77, passed away Wednesday March 13, 2024. He was born January 11, 1947 to Hoyt and Kathleen Davidson. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Hoyt and Kathleen Davidson and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest (Ned) Lukens and Dorothy Lukens of Vancouver WA.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Paula Lukens Davidson of Gainesville as they had married on March 17, 1979, St. Patrick's Day. Children, Scott (Missie) Davidson, Sherry (Tim) Millwood, and Amanda (Jason) Thompson. Grandchildren, Josh (Brittany) Davidson, Kadi (Curtis) Hodge, Austin (Kayla) Millwood, Cohen Millwood, Allison (Hudson) Howard, Emma Thompson, Jacob Thompson, and Lucas Thompson; Great Grandchildren, Laney Minish, Bristol Davidson, led Davidson, Harlow Hodge, Creed Hodge, Liam Millwood and Lawson Millwood, and the beloved family cat, Tabby,
Surviving siblings include brothers and sisters in laws: Bill and Bobbie Davidson, Gerald and Doris Davidson, Tony and Sharon Davidson. Sister-in-law Valerie Lukens (Ken) Carter, Lancaster, PA and brother-in-law Scott Lukens, Portland OR, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wayne attended East Hall High School and worked at Chicopee Manufacturing Company for several years while also owning his own plumbing business, Davidson's Plumbing. He had acquired his Journeyman Plumbing license. He then worked at General Motors as a skilled trade maintenance employee and retired after 28 years. His past time enjoyment was being an avid die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan, NASCAR fan supporting Bill and Chase Elliott, the local drivers from Dawsonville. He also enjoyed driving his various "Chevrolet" antique cars to local car shows with his family. Wayne thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of friends at these car shows and discussing who really had the best-looking car to win the trophy. When not watching the Atlanta Falcons or NASCAR, he enjoyed family gathering with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters-in-laws, and other family members. He and his wife, Paula, enjoyed their many trips to Pigeon Forge, Cherokee, NC, Blue Ridge GA, Hilton Head, Outer Banks, NC, and their beloved "River Dream" camper in the mountains of North Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 18 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
