Johnathan Van Avery

Jonathan Van Avery, age 59, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Carmen Van Avery; sons, Robert Gabriel Van Avery and David Michael Van Avery; mother, Mary Van Avery; aunt, Elizabeth McGrath; brother, Christopher Eric (Kellie) Van Avery; nephews, Crispin Van Avery and Daniel Van Avery; and father-in-law, Alec Gorgan; sister-in-law, Simona Gorgan.

Jonathan Van Avery was born on September 23, 1964 in Plattsburgh, New York. He graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, Vermont.  Jonathan Van Avery graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering in 1988 and then in 2010, he graduated from Kennesaw State University with a MBA in Business Administration. 

Jonathan Van Avery worked as a Senior Technical Director with AT&T for over fifteen years before becoming Director IT Operations and DevSecOps at McKesson for several years.  He then became Director of IT Services with Ciox Health.  Jonathan Van Avery was a member of St. James Orthodox Church in Gainesville, GA.  

Jonathan will be especially remembered by his children and wife for being the best husband and father. This is his legacy to his family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at St. James Orthodox Church, 3579 McEver Road, Gainesville, GA 30504. He will Lie-in-State beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sugar Hill Cemetery in Sugar Hill, GA.
