Robert Anderson “Bob” Mashburn, Jr., 72, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Born June 10, 1951 in Fulton County to the late Bob and Jackie Mashburn, he had lived in Lumpkin County for over 40 years. Bob owned and operated Mashburn Distributing Company. A master Scrabble player, he enjoyed reading, writing, history, and collecting coins and antique milk bottles. He took great pride in his family and was a “Buddy” to everyone he met, but especially his grandchildren. A member of Concord Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his aunts, Gayle Lawson and Doris Wilson.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Julia Mashburn, Dahlonega; children, Kaytie and Steven Swofford, Dawsonville, Andy and Lynne Mashburn, Cumming, Julianne and Justin Reynolds, Gainesville; grandchildren, Claire Elise Mashburn, Jake Anderson Mashburn, Carter Adam Mashburn, Taylor Lee Swofford, Olivia Anna Swofford; sister and brother in law, Sue and Bill Maglin, Fredericksburg, VA; brothers and sisters in law, Mike and Carole Mashburn, Gainesville, Glenn and Norma Mashburn, Athens; aunt and uncles, Pat and Bill Reynolds, Decatur, Charles Lawson, Rock Hill, SC, Harold Wilson, Dallas, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Scott Gilbert will officiate. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 until 7 at the funeral home.
