Ruby is survived by her husband, Robert H. Murphy of the home; Robert and Ruby were married for over 67 years and he will be missing her until he sees her again. She is also survived by her son, Johnny Wayne Thomas (Judy); daughters, Diane Moore, Janice Thomas; grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Brandy Thomas, Crystal Tompkins (Scotty), Angela Owen, Jennifer Ali (Balil), Jill Ward, Jamie Goldfarb (Aaron); 14 great grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
Robert and Ruby were members of Zion Hill Baptist Church of Flowery Branch, pastored by Scott Wilson. Ruby loved attending church but had not been able to go to church for several years. Ruby always tried to watch service on the TV.
While raising five children, Ruby also worked in retail at Family Dollar, J.C. Penney and Belk’s. I know that mom loved her home, it was always spotless and home cooked meals were always prepared.
Our sister Brenda and Ruby always enjoyed planting a garden and canning all of the vegetables. Mom always enjoyed baking cakes, and making banana puddings. Ruby was also skilled in sewing, making clothes, quilts and curtains.
I have to say that Ruby meant what she said. Very stern, did not back down and if she said move you had better run.
Our family is so thankful for the time God gave us with our RUBY!
Thank you to Hospice of Northeast Georgia. A very special thank you to Jeff Rider, Hailey Goss and their son, Ethan and Janice who helped out tremendously and took such great and wonderful care of Ruby, Mom, Nanny Ruby, Gran Ruby in her final days and hours . We will be forever grateful to each of you.
Ruby would be so mad at me I almost forgot; she loved wrestling, Georgia Bulldog Football and the Sailors Platter from Red Lobster and the Hall County Sheriff office in 2020 for serenading her for her 95th birthday during COVID.
Mom loved her husband, family and God.
