Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. James Calvin “Pops” Harbin Sr., age 78, of Commerce, Georgia, who passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Mr. Harbin was born in Tifton, Georgia, and was a retired Firefighter with the City of Savannah, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Harbin was preceded in death by his mother, Donnie Harbin, half-brother, Rayford Walker, and his granddaughter, Savannah Harbin.
Survivors include wife, Phyllis Jean Wester Harbin of Commerce; son, James Calvin “Jay” Harbin Jr. and his wife Gina of Lyons, GA; stepsons, Russ Ellis and his wife Karen of Lithia Springs, Richard Ellis and his wife Lisa of Clarkesville; grandchildren, James C. Harbin III, Jamey Harbin, Kayla Ellis, Brianna Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Cal Ellis, Cody Ellis, Joy Ellis; step grandson, Alex Page; and his sister, Teresa Blankenship and her husband Sammy of Savannah also survives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Chaplain Laura Davis officiating.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
