Kenneth Stephens, 83, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born April 9, 1940 to the late Albert “Doc” and Edna “Gamps” Stephens, Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. He was a 1958 graduate of Dawson County High School and spent his entire career hauling cars for Allied Automotive Group until his retirement in 2001. Kenneth loved fast cars and was involved in racing for many years. Alongside his wife, he owned and operated S&W Superette in Dawsonville for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Stephens; daughter, Tammy Watson; sister and brothers in law, Gaynelle and Edgar Odum, Joe Lane Cox; brother, Jerry Stephens.
Surviving are his daughters, Marsha Stephens, Terri Reece; son-in-law, Steve Watson; sisters, Judy Cox, Mary Sosebee (Mike); sister-in-law, Laura Jean Satterfield; grandchildren, Eric Hansard, Kendric Hansard (Jessica), Lori Odom; great-grandchildren, Reece Odom, Skye Hansard, Van Hansard, and Lilli Hansard; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Burt will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 23 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until the hour of service.
