Andrew J. Brown

Andrew J. Brown, who preferred AJ, of Hoschton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 12 at home with family.  He was 46 years old.

A lover of music, time spent by the water, dogs, cooking, family and an avid fan of the Packers and Braves, AJ is survived by his wife, Christy Brown; sons, Cooper and Zach Brown; parents, Pam and Paul Brown; brother & sister-in-law, Peter & Denise McCormick; niece and nephew, PJ and Julia McCormick; parents-in-law, Joan & Jerry Gereghty; brother-in-law, Brian Reese; niece, Megan Stucynski and her husband, Matt.  In addition to his family, he will be remembered by scores of friends and coworkers for this enthusiasm and humor.

AJ was born on August 1, 1977 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (which he has stressed is a real place) and grew up on Beaver Lake in Hartland, WI before moving to Indianapolis and subsequently Gainesville, GA near Lake Lanier, where he built his family with Christy.

In addition to spending time with his wife and sons, AJ loved working in the yard, undeterred by doctor’s orders, and valued his role at Microsoft, continuing to work through aggressive treatments.  Throughout his battle with cancer, AJ remained determined to live his life to the fullest: traveling, spending time with friends and family, and remaining active.

The family will receive friends at Memorial Park South Funeral Home on March 16, 2024 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m.  A reception will directly follow the service.

It was AJ’s wish that memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the American Cancer Hope Lodge, in Decatur, Georgia, where AJ stayed during his treatment at Emory Hospital.
