Peggy Rebecca Kemp, age 67, known as “Peb” to those who loved her most, passed away peacefully at her home on February 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Sonny and Gloria Kemp, her brother Sammy Kemp, and brother-in-law Jerry Burruss.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Swenson, and son-in-law, Dane, along with her six cherished grandchildren: Bryce Barrett, Lisa, Brian, Boone, Lyla, and Cody Swenson, his wife Olevia, and great-granddaughter, Harper. She is also survived by her sisters, Stacey Kemp, Sandra Dorsey and her husband, David, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Special acknowledgement with love and immense appreciation to Diane Keith Andreasen, her cousin, dear friend and devoted caregiver.
Peggy grew up in Murrayville, Georgia working in her family’s businesses, the Murray Burger and the Village Pantry before dedicating forty-two years of her life to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. After a brief two-week retirement, she began working part-time at the Murrayville Pharmacy. Peggy was a dedicated member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, where she held many roles ranging from cleaning the church to preparing meals for the children’s program.
Peggy played an integral role in the lives of her daughter's foster children, extending her love not only to them but also to their birth families. Peggy's compassion knew no bounds, and her legacy of kindness and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those blessed enough to know her.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Chelsea Chandler and her staff, Affinis Hospice, Murrayville Pharmacy and the kind and generous congregation of Yellow Creek Baptist Church for their unwavering support during Peggy's illness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Yellow Creek Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ricky Stone, Rev. Jason Buffington, and Rev. Carl Andreasen, with interment following in the church cemetery, officiated by Rev. Rex Fuller. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends for visitation at Yellow Creek Baptist from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested that donations be made to Hall is Home for Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to children affected by the child welfare system in Hall County. Donations can be made at www.hallishomeforkids.com.
