Joseph Warren White III

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Joseph Warren White III, age 79, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. Mr. White was born in Greenville, South Carolina, a son to the late Joseph Warren White Jr. and the late Corelli Crudup Lee White. Mr. White was retired from Hewitt Robins International where he was in sales and marketing. .A resident of Jefferson, since 2007, he was a faithful member of the Jefferson Presbyterian Church, where he served as treasurer.

In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth White and his brother, Charles Lee White. Survivors include his wife, Sydney Gayle O’Brien White of Jefferson, GA; son, Eric Warren White and his wife Kim of Elgin, SC; step-sons, Jason Gilman Sawyer and his wife Tara of Oswego, NY and David James Barnstead Sawyer and his wife Jennifer of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Kristopher White, Dalton White, Piper White, Caitlyn Sawyer Gulrajani, Jacob Sawyer, Nicholas Sawyer and Madeline Sawyer; brother in law, James J.O’Brien III of Bedford, New Hampshire also survives.

While in college and on a school break, Joe and his roommate, by the flip of a coin, traveled to Lexington, Massachusetts, where on a blind date, he met the woman who would one day become his wife. Some years later, they were providentially reunited, married, and blended their families. Together, they raised three men whose successes would make any parent exceedingly proud. Throughout their 43 years as husband and wife, the gracious hand of God has been upon them, blessing them richly as they have blessed countless others. Of their 43 years together, Joe once remarked, “It’s a good start.”

Joe was a loving husband, nurturing father, devoted friend and faithful disciple of his Lord. His life exuded the vim and vigor of one who had a cheerful and grateful heart. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and especially by his beloved Sydney and their family, who knew him best and loved him most. Thanks be to God for Joseph (Joe) Warren White!

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17th, at the Jefferson Presbyterian Church, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Paul Evans officiating.
