Edith King Overholser, 95, of Atlanta Georgia, passed away on February 8th, 2024. She was born on December 23rd, 1928 to Thomas and Lois King in Atlanta, Ga.

Edith had three boys, who she cherished more than anything, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Mark Stephen Willingham on December 30th, 2023, and her late husband, Donald M. Overholser on May 10th, 2015. She is survived by her two younger sons, Kelly Scott Willingham, his wife Lynn, and Phillip Daniel Willingham along with his wife, Paula as well as Stephen’s wife, Lisa. She has four grandchildren, Traci Willingham Gagnon, husband Jeffrey, Ashley Willingham Johnson, husband Will, Ryan Phillip Willingham, wife Nicole, Adam Joseph Willingham, who also preceded her in death on October 16th, 2017, Eric Landress, wife Whitney, and Jon Landress. She has eight great-grandchildren, Natalie, Matthew, Brandon, Gavin, Emily, Jackson, Noah and Ava.

In December 1979 she married the absolute love of her life Donald M. Overholser and together they started a beautiful life full of love. They enjoyed many hobbies including dance, piano, golf, cards and even rollerblading. One of the things they loved most was painting and traveling to participate in different art classes, truly enjoying the beauty of the world they lived in.

Edith dedicated her life to the education of children, opening her first Montessori school in the early 70s in the basement of a local church. She soon expanded her small classroom to a school in East Point, Ga. After many years in that location she opened her final school in Duluth, Ga. The Duluth Montessori School grew over 36 years to educate children from the age of 14-months to 15-years on two sprawling campuses. Her beautiful schools touched the lives of so many families through the years and the traditions she started are treasured memories to each and every one. From family picnics to elegant Christmas banquets, she thought of every detail to make each event memorable and special.

Edith touched the lives of so many, especially those of her family. She always loved any time when we could all be together on family trips to Hilton Head and loved so much hosting Christmas every year, with a big party for the whole family. She loved hugs and hearing of all our various adventures. She will be missed so much by so many.

Services will be held at Memorial Park, Flowery Branch, Ga on February 24th, 2024, visitation: 12pm - 1:15pm, service: 1:30pm.
