Wenona “Pat” Delaine Owen Odom, age 91, of Smithville, Tennessee, formerly of Flowery Branch, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2024 at home surrounded by family. She was born on August 12, 1932, in Fort Payne, Alabama, to the late Riley Owen and Jessie Estelle Hampton Owen.
On February 24, 1951, Wenona embarked on a lifelong journey with her best friend and soulmate, Russell (Bill) Odom. Wenona was a quiet, extraordinary woman with a heart full of love and talents that knew no bounds. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother with a strong faith and a kind spirit that touched the lives of all that knew her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading, cooking, quilting, tending to her garden, admiring flowers, rocking on the front porch, and going to flea markets. Her dedication to her family was unmatched.
Wenona is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 73 years, Russell (Bill) Eugene Odom, who supported and cared for her unconditionally during their marriage, illness, and her final days. She also leaves behind her sons, Jeff Odom and his wife Helen of Smithville, TN; Mark Odom of Smithville, TN; daughter Delaine Williams and her husband Glenn of Flowery Branch, GA; Daughter-in Laws, Venise Tuttle of Sneedville, TN; Delores Kimbrell of Cornelia, GA. Grandchildren, Lee Odom of Cleveland, GA; Crissy (Jay) Ivey of Belmont, GA; Brandy Bonner of Gainesville, GA; Amy (Eric) Stevens of Flowery Branch, GA; Ashley (Eric) Webb of Clarksville, GA. Will (Brittney) Odom of Smithville, TN; Whitney (Chas) Keithan of Soddy-Daisy, TN; Taylor Williams of Gainesville, GA; Courtney Odom of Smithville, TN; Morgan (Jeremy) Whitlow of Lafayette, TN; Siblings include sister, Helen White of Douglasville, GA; brother , Alfred (Annie May) Owen of Fort Payne, AL; Sister-in-Law, Sandra Owen of Fort Payne, AL.
She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren Hunter; Conner; Bailey; Eastin; Gage; Judson; Jolie; Lucas; Charlie; Scarlet; Lainey; Bella; Aubrey; numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Danielle.
In addition to her parents, Wenona was preceded in death by sons, Steve (Venise) Odom; Barry Odom, and his wife, Judy; Joel (Delores) Odom; brothers, Winston Owen and his wife, Barbara; Roland (Sandra) Owen; J.W. Owen; sisters, June Owen; Carylon Owen; brother-in-law, Mickey White.
Family and friends are invited to share in the celebration of Wenona’s life. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, from noon to 2:00 PM at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 4100 Falcon Pkwy, Flowery Branch, Georgia. Funeral Services will follow at same location beginning at 2:00 PM. Rev. Scott Wilson will be officiating. Internment will take place in the church cemetery, immediately following the service.
