Glenda D. Burgess

Glenda D. Burgess, age 87, of Monroe, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Davidson and Hazel Kenimer Davidson.  Mrs. Burgess is survived by her husband of 51 years, Phillip R. Burgess of Monroe, GA; daughter, Nanci (Scott) Ellis of Monroe, GA; son, Richard Coker of Montana; grandson, Joshua (Shalyn) Coker; granddaughters, Claire Smith, Kelly (Caron) Sinclair, Mallory Sayre; 4 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burgess was born September 9, 1936 in Cornelia, GA.  She was a 1954 graduate of Habersham Central High School.  She attended Piedmont College in Demorest, where she played Basketball and was a Cheerleader.  Mrs. Burgess retired from the CDC as an immigration specialist with over 20 years of service.  She was a member of Buford Presbyterian Church.  She loved her family very much and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Buford Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rix Threadgill officiating.  The family will have a Reception and receive friends following the service at Buford Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buford Presbyterian Church in memory of Glenda Burgess.
