Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. John Levi Cook, Jr., age 70 of Mt. Airy, Georgia who entered rest Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Mr. Cook was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia the son of the late John “Levi” Cook Sr., and the late Helen Bridges Cook. Johnny graduated from Fitzgerald High School where he held the pole vault record for many years. He was an avid baseball fan and coached throughout his son’s youth. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting. He worked in the construction industry for fifty-five years and could build and fix anything. In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded by a nephew, Justin Rogers.
Johnny is survived by his children: Son, John Levi Cook III and wife Amy of Maysville. Daughter, Jessica Cook of Mount Airy. Grandson, Keegan Irvin of Mount Airy. Sister, Debra Jackson of Peachtree Corners, brother, Mike Jackson of Leesburg. Former wife and mother to his children, Kathi Cook of Maysville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rylee Family Cemetery, 1710 Nunnally Farm Road, Monroe, Georgia. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Matthew Goins, Frank Runyan, Cole Runyan, Seth Runyan, Joshua Goins, and Jacob Goins. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home.
