Joyce Cox

Joyce Cox, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday January 31, 2024 following a period of declining health.

Born February 25, 1939, to the late Egbert and Melva Tatum, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  Joyce was formerly employed by the Dawson County Board of Education, was the bookkeeper for the Dawson County Day Care Center and was employed by BB&T until her retirement.  A member of Juno Baptist Church, she was very devoted to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Edward Cox.

Surviving are her children, Karen Minor of Gainesville, Keith and Gayla Cox of Dacula; grandchildren, Megan and Greg Maddox, Courtney and Bobby Holgate, Christopher and Meaghan Minor, Caitlin Minor; great-grandchildren, Zackery Maddox, Zoey Maddox, Autumn Holgate, Lily Holgate, Miles Minor; sisters, Janelle Tatum Wilson of Dawsonville, Janice Tatum Whitmire of Dawsonville; brother, Dwight and Linda Tatum of Dawsonville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 3 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Phillip Burt and Rev. Gerral Richards will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Juno Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 3 at the funeral home.
