Rev. Barbara Freeman, 73, of Buford GA departed this life on January 25, 2024, after a prolonged illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Marie Meece of
Hopkinsville, KY. Rev. Freeman is survived by her wife, Rebecca Freeman, her son and daughter-in-law Jayden and Sarah Freeman, as well as by her sister and brother-in-law Teddy
and Rick Hunker, her nephew Eric Hill and niece Eleanor Cogen. Rev. Freeman was a minister for the Metropolitan Community Churches, most recently the pastor of the Church of the Rock in
Little Rock, AR. She was also an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Little Rock, AR and a member most recently of the City of Light MCC Church in Atlanta. Rev. Freeman was also notable for creating and mentoring the LGBTQ+ affirming group at the UU
Church of Little Rock. Barbara was known as a Christian guide and mentor, and was always ready to assist those in her circle that needed spiritual guidance regardless of how far away
they were, maintaining friendships with former parishioners as far back as her seminary days in Texas. She loved and collected clipper ships in memory of her father’s long US Navy service,
and was a fan of classic movies and travel, which she did extensively with her wife and their poodles.
Her family will hold a Celebration of Life in Little Rock, Arkansas in the spring.
