We are sad to announce the passing of Dellie Jean Murray Cowart, 85, of Commerce. She peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Cowart was born in Madison Co., GA, the daughter of the late Ouida Arlue Murray and the late Effie Lela Hart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by the love of her life, her husband, Curtis J. Cowart; sisters, Florine Alexander, Allene Murray, Inez Parr, Shirley Moore, Reba Ritcheson, Gladys Hawkes, Baby Girl Murray, Bettie Sue Hart, Willie Barbara Evans; brothers, John T. Murray, Sam Murray, Clifford Murray, Robert Murray, and James (Peewee) Murray.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Cowart (Thierry), Alan Cowart; four grandchildren, Johnnie Morgan (Tyger), Sean Saenz (Kathryn), Tamara Frazier (Dylan), Zachary Cowart; three great-grandchildren, Hayley Morgan, Kelsey Morgan, and Christian Murray Frazier.
Mrs. Cowart was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church Tabernacle. And part of the Madison County High School Class of 1956.
Therefore, we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Howington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
