Susan Elizabeth Shaw

Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Shaw, age 72, of Dahlonega, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on January 9, 1952, to Guy Patrizzi and Margaret Fallon Patrizzi. She is preceded in death by her father, Guy Patrizzi.

Susan was a remarkable individual, known for her warm heart, vibrant spirit, and an innate ability to forge connections and friends all over the world. She leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and accomplishments that touched the lives of many.

Her professional journey was as diverse as her talents. Susan served as a zoo keeper at the Philadelphia Zoo, and as a veterinary technician, contributing to the well-being of countless animals. Susan played a pivotal role in getting Norwegian Forest Cats recognized as a breed in the United States.

Susan showcased her artistic abilities as a web designer, and painter. Her love for the arts led her to become deeply involved in theatre. She served as a Holly Theater stage hand and devoted her time to the Cumming Play House, where she stage managed performances and worked with props, costumes, and lighting. Her love of exploration lead her to traveling to Norway, Paris, England, and Italy.

Susan was a foster parent who opened her heart and home to those in need. This opened the door to the eventual adoption of her daughter. Her resilience was evident in her unwavering fight against heart disease throughout her life. Despite the challenges, she lived her life to the fullest, embodying strength, courage, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew her.

Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Shaw is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Jeffrey Shaw of Dahlonega; daughter Tina Shaw of Dahlonega; mother Margaret Patrizzi of South Yarmouth, MA; brothers Peter Patrizzi (Donna) of Ocean City, NJ, and Joseph Haynes (Josie) of Homosassa Springs, FL.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2023.
