Lowell N. Massey

We are sad to announce the passing of Lowell N. Massey of Commerce. He passed away peacefully at age 96 on Friday, January, 26, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. 

Born on October 20, 1927 to the late Odell and Lessie Keesee Massey of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Blondine Seagraves Massey, sister, Joyce Wise, and son-in-law, Waldo Royal. 

Mr. Massey was a member of Blacks Creek Baptist Church. He was selflessly devoted to his family and cared deeply for his friends. He retired from Goldkist after 25+ years of service and was also a lifelong farmer.

He is survived by his daughters Wanda Royal and Connie (Darrell) Garrison; grandchildren, Wendy Royal, Wendell Royal, Anna Garrison, and Amber Garrison; and great grandchildren, Austin, Amelia, and Adalyn Royal. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to Joel Wise and also to the staff of Bridgeway Hospice for their kindness and care.

Funeral service: Monday, January 29, 2024, at 4pm in the Ivie Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Erastus Christian Church cemetery, Commerce.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a church of choice or The Gideon's International. 

Family to receive friends: Monday, January 29, 2024 from 2:30 until 4pm at Ivie Funeral Home.
