Mr. Boyd Cantrell, age 88, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born in Cleveland, Georgia, on May 28, 1935, to the late Floyd and Dorothy Roberts Cantrell. Boyd leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication.
Boyd dedicated his life to his profession as a sawmill owner and operator for 75 years, where all who knew him could see his passion for hard work and commitment. While Boyd found great satisfaction in his work, his true joy in life came from his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Eulene, sharing 53 years of marriage. His role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather brought immeasurable pride and joy. Boyd was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Boyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eulene Cantrell, and his brothers Roy Cantrell, Grady Cantrell, and Homer Cantrell.
Survivors include his children, Becky Thompson (Dennis), Roger Cantrell (Teresa), Patty Lingerfelt (Greg), all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Brad Thompson, Chad Thompson, Raymond Cantrell, Chasity Hall, Cody Wymer, Craig Lingerfelt, and Whitney Black; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Ruth London, Joyce Lail, Dewey Cantrell, and Janie Odegard, and Danny Cantrell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dalton Delozier and the Rev. Lance Fuller officiating. Interment will follow at Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the funeral home.
