Donald "Donnie" Eugene Sosebee

Donald “Donnie” Eugene Sosebee, age 71, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Born on June 21, 1952, in Forsyth, he was a son of the late James Eugene Sosebee and Gaynell Shockley Sosebee Hooper of Demorest. Mr. Sosebee was a truck driver for 45 years having retired from Adams Motor Express. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and car shows, but his favorite thing to do was drive racecar #45 at the Toccoa Raceway. Donnie was devoted to his family and loved them dearly. He was a member of Yonah Congregational Holiness Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Ava Marie Green; brother, David Sosebee; and sister, Jennie McCallister.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Donna Ann Freeman Sosebee of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Donald “D.J.” Eugene Sosebee, Jr. (Marlena Irvin Sosebee) of Demorest; daughters and son-in-law, Joanie Grace Sosebee (James Faulk) of Demorest and Donna Deanne Green (Jonathan) of Cornelia; ten grandchildren; brothers: Ronnie Sosebee of Gainesville, Doug Sosebee of Homer, Johnny Sosebee of Clarkesville, and Glenn Sosebee of Mt. Airy; sister, Peggy Aguilar of Demorest; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm, on Friday, January 26, 2024, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Habersham County Animal Shelter, 4231 B Toccoa Highway, Clarkesville, Georgia 30523.
