Erick J. Moran

Erick J. Moran, age 80, of Winder, GA, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Helen Pritchett Moran and his first wife, Kathleen Carol Moran in 1996.  Mr. Moran is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lavonne Pennington Moran of Winder, GA; children, David (Christine) Moran of Alpharetta, GA, Susan (Nate) Juvinall of Kennesaw, GA, Jennifer (Al) Alvarez of Roswell, GA; Step-children, Jeffrey “Jeff” Edrington of Cleveland, GA, Christine Edrington of Winder, GA; 6 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 1great-grandchild; sisters, Sharyn L. Moran of Canton, GA, Nena Moran of Ballground, GA; several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Moran was born on January 4, 1944 in Savannah, GA and graduated in 1962 from Campbell High School.  He graduated in 1967 from the Cobb County Police Academy, in 1969 from the Georgia State Patrol Academy and in 1977 from Georgia State College with a Master’s Degree. From 1990 until his retirement in 2009, Mr. Moran worked for the National Highway Safety Administration as a Regional Program Manager.   Before going to work for the National Highway Safety Administration, he was a Gwinnett Co. Police Officer, a Cobb Co. Police Officer and a Georgia State Patrolman.  As a hobby, Mr. Moran enjoyed genealogy very much.  A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Nate Juvinall.  Interment with Military Honors will follow the service at 2:30 p.m. at Gresham Cemetery, Kennesaw, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
