Walter Claude Beamer

Walter Claude Beamer, age 81, of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Quail Beamer; parents, Walter and Virginia Bruner Beamer; and brother, Roger Beamer. Mr. Beamer is survived by children, Diana (Stephen) Dunn of Buford, Bruce Beamer of Pennsylvania, Robert McKay of Maryland; four grandchildren, Nina Upshaw-Whiting, Raymond Walter Koch III, Charles T. Koch, and Vincent M. Koch; and daughter-in-law, Patrice Whiting. Walter was born on November 6, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and his Master’s Degree in Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He retired after forty years of service as an Engineer for the United States Navy at the NADC Base, and then worked seventeen years as an Engineer for Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA.  He was a member of the Lion’s Club, an active member of the Presbyterian faith in churches in Pennsylvania and Georgia, and was an enthusiast of model railroading. Walter was actively involved with his grandsons in the Cub and Boy Scouts, having been a Sea Scout himself in his youth. He was an active coach for his daughter’s (Diana) Warrington soccer and softball associations. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home at the Historic Marietta Chapel, 180 Church Street N.E., Marietta, GA.  The family will receive friends at 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
