John H. "Johnny" Turk

John H. "Johnny" Turk, 90 of Gainesville died Wednesday January 17, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Turk was the son of the late John Herman Turk, Sr. and Fay Reed Turk.  He was retired from General Electric and had also worked selling real estate for Lee Waldrip Realty and Prudential Real Estate. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Annette Roberts Turk, Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Vickie Turk, Flowery Branch, grandchildren, Andy and Jenny Ledford and Chris Ledford, all of Flowery Branch, great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Drew, and Austin Ledford, and Tenley Ledford, sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Bobby Wilburn, Flowery Branch, sisters, Betty Beck, Gainesville, and Laverne Porter, Chestnut Mountain. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Turk is preceded in death by his parents, son, John Randy Turk, sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Leon Martin, brother and sister-in-law, J.C. and Vernie Turk, sister, Mary Lou Turk, sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and I.C. Blankenship, brother, Henry Howard Turk, and brother-in-law, Al Beck, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Lewis Williams, Myrtice and Joe Cain, brother-in-law, Hoyt Porter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Matthew Vandegriff, Rev. Phil Carpenter and Rev. Bob White will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Friday January 19th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
