Jackie Ray, 67, of Gainesville passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born May 15, 1956, Jackie was a lifelong resident of Gainesville. He spent his entire career in the poultry industry working with numerous companies in the area including Mar-Jac, Cantrell Machine and Fieldale. A hard-working man, Jackie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who enjoyed watching westerns, Nascar racing and helping others whenever he could. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Irene Ray; Brothers, James Ray, Junior Ray, Fred Ray; sisters, Dorothy Weaver, Lois Wilson, Robbie Walls; father-in-law, Johnny Barnes.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Dianne Ray of Gainesville; sons, Kevin Ray (Jennifer) of Gainesville, Kyle Ray (Ashley) of Blairsville; daughter, Kelli Ray of Gainesville; 7 grandchildren, Landin, Cayden, Sawyer, Landen, Weston, Ava, Grayson; brothers, Bobby Ray (Louise), Larry Ray (Barbara), Jerry Ray (Geneva) all of Gainesville; sisters, Girlie Turner of Cleveland, Bernice Berry of Gainesville, Myrtice Ellis (James) of Gainesville; mother-in-law, Henrietta Barnes of Murrayville; other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Gainesville.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Jackie be made to a charity of your choice.
