Loy James (Bud) Wimpy, native of Dahlonega, GA passed on Jan. 6, 2024. Born 3-26-1934 to the late Ernest F. Wimpy and Mae Pruitt Wimpy. He was named by his grandfather James Wiley Wimpy and nicknamed Bud by his older brother Roy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Wimpy, and his brothers, Henley Wimpy, Carl Wimpy, Roy Wimpy, Jack Wimpy and Melvin Wimpy. His grandson Brandon Dale. He is survived by his 5 children: Kathy Miller (Danny), Doris Conner (Allen), Lynn Dale, Clint Wimpy (Ann) and Mike Wimpy. His brothers, Allen Wimpy, Jeff Wimpy and Wiley Wimpy. His sister, Marjorie Mason. His seven grandchildren: Blake Miller, Shaun Miller, Matthew Conner, Katie Conner, Joni Ross, Josh Wimpy and Erica McDaniel. His ten great grandchildren: Cohen Miller, Cora Miller, Madison Conner, Michelle Conner, Delilah Conner, Morgan Ellis, McKenzie Ellis as well as Peyton, Presley, and Piper McDaniel. Special nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Ellie. Bud was baptized in Wimpy's Lake and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a master Motor grader/ heavy equipment operator. A hard-working man who expected the same of others and respected those who did. He worked for A.G. wimpy Co. in his early years. He also worked for Northwest Engineering Co. where he travelled the world delivering, assembling, and inspecting heavy equipment and training operators. He returned to operating and worked into his 80’s on almost every major interstate highway in the Southeast. He and wife Annie enjoyed travelling the U.S. in their motorhome, especially the western states. He loved bluegrass music and was known to pick a tune on the mandolin he inherited from his grandfather Vade Pruitt. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh, story, and joke. Bud’s wishes were to be cremated, no services at this time, with a family celebration of life at a later date.
