Mr. Bennie Harlan Hulsey, age 86 of Toccoa passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A son of the late Bennie Marvin Hulsey and Reba Fountain Hulsey, he was born April 9, 1937 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived most of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Toccoa High School where he played football for the Purple Hurricanes. He enjoyed baseball, football and bluegrass music. He was a member of Toccoa Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Gillen Hulsey, brother, Shelton Hulsey and by a sister, Becky Bryant.
Survivors include his lifelong friend, Bill Good of Toccoa; step-son, Gary Smith of Cornelia; nephews, Jason Bryant of Alto and Ben Hulsey of Lula.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 11, 2024, 11 o’clock a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Phillips, The Reverend John Massey and Mr. Bill Good officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 2661 Mars Hill Road, Watkinsville, Georgia at 2 o’clock p.m. with Military Honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
