Leon Coker

Leon Coker, age 82 of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 02, 2024.

Born in Demorest, Georgia on July 04, 1941, he was a son of the late Fred & Dallas Ellen Taylor Coker. Leon served his country proudly in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He was a graduate of North Georgia Technical College and worked as a mechanic for C.W. Matthews for many years before retirement. In his spare time, Leon enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for folks at the nursing homes. He was a member of Return Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Norma Jean Hester Coker; brothers, Jerry Coker & Freddie Coker.

Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Teri Chambers Rice & Mark Rice of Dallas, GA; grandson, Josh Rice of Dallas, GA; sisters & brothers-in-law, Ellen & Roger Wilkes of Demorest, GA; Annette & David Eller of Clarkesville, GA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Leon’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Return Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
