Thomas Mitchell Forbes

Thomas Mitchell Forbes, 84 of Gainesville passed away December 30, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville.

Born in Queens, New York to Pauline Juliet Mitchell and Thomas Alta Forbes on August 17, 1939.  He graduated from Hackensack High School, New Jersey and the University of Pennsylvania.  He had a tremendous impact on the field of education. He served in the positions of teacher, Principal and Superintendent over the course of his career of over 40 years. Mr. Forbes retired from the Coweta County Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Forbes, Tom's children, Cheryl Corr, Scott Forbes, Alissa Sullivan, Jason Forbes and Jennifer Zdanowicz, sister, Mary Forbes, cousins, John and Bill Mitchell and their families, Tom also has 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Georgia's children, Jason Meucci, Jeffrey Knowles, Anna Knowles Pitchford and 4 grandchildren, in memorium we would like to mention others who were loved by Tom.  Former wife, Shirley Forbes, son-in-law, Tom Corr, brother-in-law, Gary Terrell.

Funeral services will be held Sunday January 7, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Dr. Tyler Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will follow the service at the Alta Vista Cemetery.
