Ruth Forrester Orr

Ruth Forrester Orr, age 93, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Horace M. Orr; parents, Fred and Ella Forrester; sisters, Ruby Forrester Young, Blonnie Forrester Patterson; brothers, Howard Samuel Forrester and Delmar Forreseter.  

Mrs, Orr is survived by children, Stanley and Lesley Orr of Buford, Carol Orr Clifton and Robert Clifton of Buford, Kim Orr Carder and Jerry Carder of Stockbridge, GA; granddaughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Orr Patterson; two great grandsons, Joseph Hindman and Joshua Hindman; sisters, Mildred Forrester Smith of Lawrenceville, GA and Lillian Forrester Boring of Hiram, GA; sisters-in-law, Virginia Orr Mayfield and Sue Orr both of Flowery Branch, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Orr was born on June 30, 1930 in Buford, GA. She was a 1947 graduate of Flowery Branch High School in Flowery Branch, GA.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Gainesville Hosiery Mill. Mrs. Orr was a longtime member of Friendship Community Baptist Church in Buford, and was a longtime former member of Custer Ave. Baptist Church in Atlanta. GA. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Grant Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, January 6.
