Mazie H. Kilgore

Mazie H. Kilgore, age 87, of Flowery Branch passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Mazie was born on February 29, 1936 in Jackson County to the late U. C. and Annie C. Hale. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Abbey Elizabeth Kilgore; and parents, and sister, Mabel Simmons. Mazie is survived by husband, Horace J. Kilgore, Sr; children, Howard Kilgore, Harold (Sharon) Kilgore, Mary Ann (Scott) McDonald, and Horace (Alison) Kilgore, Jr. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and spouses; and seven great grandchildren; as well as her sister; Marie (Nathaniel) Clark and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mazie was a 1952 graduate of Gainesville High School and retired from GA B Robbins Insurance Company after twenty years of service. She will be remembered as having been the first woman elected to serve on the Flowery Branch City Council where she served two terms. She attended Chicopee Baptist Church and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members only on Sunday, January 7, 2024. The family will receive friends at Flanigan Funeral Home on Saturday, January 6 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m..
