Herman Echols

Herman Echols, age 85, of Braselton, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Ella Echols. 

Mr. Echols is survived by daughter, Teresa Echols McDaniel; son-in-law, Michael McDaniel; grandsons, Ryan McDaniel and wife Madison, Ross McDaniel and fiancée Allison Roach, Rex McDaniel; great grandchildren, Ella Kathleen McDaniel and Ryan Jr. McDaniel; sisters, Barbara Echols Black of Buford, Lynn (Larry) Shepherd of Stone Mountain, Carol Corbett of Texas; brother, Mike (Donna) Echols of Ellenwood, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Echols was born on August 27, 1938 in Decatur, GA.

Mr. Echols began his career of truck deliveries at an early age and told many stories to his family of the routes he experienced.  He drove for Mathis Dairy which inspired his adoration for ice cream which he passed down to his daughter and grands.  He drove for Anheuser Busch and Dixie Bottle and Beverage.  Eventually purchasing his very own big Pete (Peterbilt) that he kept sparkling clean and used to provide a wonderful lifestyle for his wife and only child.  His humble beginnings instilled in him a drive to work relentlessly to make sure they had the best of everything.  When he wasn't delivering products he was always at his home he adored.  Doing what he loved best....carpentry, gardening, wine making playing for hours with his grandsons and being with his family. 

When his wife Lou Ella Cox went home to be with the Lord, he pondered the days until he got to be with her, finding it very hard to be here on earth without her.  He loved Jesus and wrote a song when his first grandson was around 8 that spoke of his wishes the day he went to be with the Lord.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford.
