Mr. Glenn Curtis Bell, age 88, of Clermont Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023.
Mr. Bell was born on October 20, 1935, in Gainesville GA. He was the son of the late Grover Boyd Bell and Willie Sloan Bell.
He was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School and attended the University of Georgia and received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Piedmont College. He was a Shriner and a Rotarian. He was also a sergeant in the US Army Reserves. Mr. Bell had a lifelong career in banking where he began at First National Bank of Gainesville in 1954. He served as president of Dawson County Bank from 1970-1976 and then as president of First National Bank/Regions Bank in Habersham County from 1976-1994 where he retired. He was of Baptist faith and attended Friendship Baptist Church of White County.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter Sherri Bell, and sister and brother-in-law Helen and Keith Whitmire and nephew Barry Whitmire.
Mr. Bell is survived by Barbara Turk Bell of Clermont, wife of 66 years; daughter Susan Bell of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law Staci and Joel Stringer of Clermont; grandchildren Jonathan Hulsey of Gainesville, Matthew Hulsey of Nashville TN, Andrew (Kasey) Hulsey of Nashville TN, Kristina (Justin) Adamson of Clermont and Kory (Devyn) Stringer of New York, NY; great grandchildren Hadleigh Hulsey, Glenn Hulsey, Ellie Hulsey, Graham Hulsey, Hollis Adamson, and Reese Adamson; nephew Brad Whitmire of Summerville, SC; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Andy and Glenda Turk or Waxhaw, NC.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Friday, January 5, 2024, at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel, Reverend Joey Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jonathan Hulsey, Matthew Hulsey, Andrew Hulsey, Kory Stringer, Justin Adamson, Glenn Hulsey, Brad Whitmire and Chris Turk.
