Marty Robert James, 63 of Sautee, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2023, with his children by his side.
Marty was born on May 20, 1960 to Linda Sue Fish in Salisbury, North Carolina. He had a great love for his mother and missed her until the day he took his last breath. Marty is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William Robert Fish and Ethel Blanche Deal Fish; his paternal grandparents, Newell and Mae James; his mother, Linda Sue Fish; his brother, Jerry Lynn James; his loving partner, Holly Evans; and his best friend, Big Jeff.
Marty is survived by his sister, Robin Morris (Terry Morris), and brother, Ricky James. He is also survived by children, Brian James (Caroline James) of St. John’s, Florida, Jessica James Weems (Kevin Weems) of Mountain City, Georgia, Marty Robert James Jr., of Cleveland, Georgia and Isabelle Grace James, of Cleveland Georgia; his daughters -in love-, Jennifer Karl Green (Chris Green) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Maryann Harms of Roswell, Georgia; his 4 granddaughters, Emerson James, Berkeley James, Zoey Weems, and Hudson Weems. Marty leaves behind Harley, his African Grey Parrot, and many extended family and friends who love him dearly.
Marty served in the United States Army from 1976 until 1985 where he was trained as a Behavioral Specialist. After resigning from the Army, his family moved to the Sautee Valley and became active members of Nacoochee Presbyterian Church. Marty worked as a Hall County Social Worker for several years before becoming a behavioral counselor for the short-term and long-term Outdoor Therapeutic Program. Marty retired in 2003 as the Assistant Director of OTP, where he left a lasting legacy as a mentor to both children and adults.
Marty loved making surprise visits to his closest friends, listening to music, hiking with his family, and meeting new people. He was quite the ladies man and had a gift of making everyone feel special and loved.

Visitation will be January 2nd, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Barrett’s Funeral Home and there will be Celebration of Life - January 20th, 2023 in Sautee, Georgia. If unable to donate, the family asks to be sure to stay up to date on all of your cancer screenings.
