James “Jim” Aloysius Jahnke

Mr. James “Jim” Aloysius Jahnke, 77, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Hunt will officiate. Mr. Jahnke will lie in state at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on August 10, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI, he was the son of the late Howard and Winifred Jahnke. He was retired from Cottrell where he was a press operator and worked in Maintenance. Mr. Jahnke was a member and Deacon of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was responsible for bringing the first Taco Bell to Gainesville. Jim had a love for woodworking, his family, and friends. Jim was known for always having a smile on his face and a joke. He loved being a prankster.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jahnke was preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph English.

Mr. Jahnke is survived by his wife, Linda Beck Jahnke of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Jesse and Lynn Jahnke; daughter and son in law, Becky and Terry English all of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Ben and Amanda Jahnke of Braselton; daughter and son in law, Theresa and Travis Hawks; step daughter and husband, Pam and David Martin all of Gainesville, step son and wife, Kenny and Teresa Owen of Blairsville; grandchildren, Nero Hawks, Bethanne English, William English, Isabella Jahnke, Alexandria Jahnke, Judea Hawks, Keely Hawks, Shai Hawks, Deja Hawks, Kelly Wright, Amber Garrett, Nick Owen; four great-grandchildren and a number of other loving relatives.
