Cliff Wooley, 81, of Cleveland, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Magnolia Senior Living following a period of declining health.
Born October 7, 1942, Cliff was born and raised in Montevallo, Alabama and had been a resident of Cleveland for almost 20 years.
He was a 1961 graduate of Montevallo High School and soon after joined the Marines. Following military service, Cliff went to work for Bell South until moving with his wife to Alaska where they worked canning salmon and he assisted with the annual Iditarod Dog Sled Race. In 1982 they returned to Montevallo and purchased the local Shell station where they stayed until 1995 when they purchased the Charbett Motel in Panama City Beach. They owned and operated the motel until their retirement. Cliff enjoyed hiking, camping and just being outdoors.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Kaye Wooley of Cleveland, Georgia; sister, Nancy Husley of Montevallo, Alabama; brother, John Davis Wooly of Birmingham, Alabama; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Judy Williams of Dawsonville, Georgia, Bill Lee of Montevallo, Alabama.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Haywood and Helen Wooley; brother, Paul Wooley; sister, Rosemary Phillips; sister-in-law, Faye Lee.
The family will receive friends at Bearden Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
