Doris Jo McDonald Bailey

Doris Jo McDonald Bailey, 84, of Buford, GA passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse McDonald, and mother, Verla McDonald.  Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Gary C. Bailey, of Buford, GA; daughter Kim (Leon) Hansard of Ormand Beach, FL; daughter Tracey (Eric) Fendley of Cullman, AL; daughter Kristen (Shane) Floyd of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren Clint Duggan, Dylan (Rachel) Duggan, Kirste Floyd, Kasside Floyd, Kaleb Floyd, Karlee Floyd; and sister Norma Spengler of Melbourne, FL.

Mrs. Bailey was born on November 25, 1939 in Bear Creek, AL.  She was a graduate of Sheffield High School in Sheffield, AL.  Upon graduation, she moved to Atlanta, GA where she met her husband of 64 years.  Mrs. Bailey was a devoted wife, mother, and she never met a stranger.  She was primarily a homemaker, but she also worked part time doing secretarial work for her husband in his business.  Mrs. Bailey was an avid reader, loved puzzles, enjoyed golf, lunching with her friends, travelling with her husband and being a “MeMe” to her grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 2, 2024 at 1:00pm in the Chapel at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, GA. with Dr. Bill Coates officiating.  The family will receive friends preceding the service from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Doris Bailey.
