Lyman A. Martin

Mr Lyman A. Martin, age 80 of Gainesville, GA entered Heaven surrounded by family on Friday, December 15, 2023 after a brief illness.

Born March 19, 1943 in Hall County Georgia to L.C. and Dessie F Martin. Mr Martin was a graduate of South Hall High School. On March 9, 1966 he married the love of his life, Ruth Jones Martin and they made Gainesville their home for 57 years. He retired from Hall County Tax Assessors Office in 2007 after 40 years. He was a member of Wahoo Baptist Church. He had a heart for missions and never missed an opportunity to share the love of Jesus. He changed many lives from his days at Sardis Baptist Church, Mission Baptist Church, Faith Baptist and Peachtree Road Baptist sharing the gospel during visits to homes, leading children's choirs or picking up boys and girls on the church bus route each Sunday. He is known to many as Bro Lyman, but we are proud to call him Dad and Pop Pop.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, L.C. and Dessie F. Martin. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and two children, Jill (Robbie) Morgan and Paul(Cindy)Martin of Gainesville; Grandchildren Zachary (Emily) Morgan and Matthew Morgan; sister Martha (Frank) Coan, brother Jackie(Mary) Martin and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Wahoo Baptist Church, 9365 Hwy 52 East, Murrayville, Ga 30564. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2-6 pm at Memorial Park Riverside, Gainesville Ga.

Officiating will be Rev. James Martin and Rev. Mark Stroud.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Wahoo Baptist Church-Mission Program, PO Box 664 Clermont, GA 30527 or a Mission Organization of your choice to continue the spread of the Gospel of Christ throughout the region and the world.
