Marilyn Titshaw Tullis-Hill of Nicholson, formerly of Buford, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born to Delbert C. and Inez Coggins Titshaw in her grandparents’ home in the Sardis area of Buford on May 20, 1940. She was placed in a shoe box lined with quilt batting and placed on a wood stove to stay warm. The physician who delivered her gave her slim chances of survival. Thus, began a lifetime of surviving insurmountable odds. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of thirty-seven years, Gerald E. Tullis; husband of twenty-six years, Fray Ned Hill; and three brothers, Vyron Adams, Royce w. Titshaw, and Howell B. Titshaw. Marilyn graduated from Suwanee High School, class of 1958. She worked for Chicopee-Lumite Division in Buford, Lovable in Buford, Safeco Insurance in Atlanta, Gwinnett School System as a crossing guard and lunchroom worker, and for American Greetings. All the time that she worked, she raised four children and helped maintain a small farm while canning and freezing crops, all the while serving in leadership for United Methodist Youth Fellowship. Marilyn is survived by her children, Toni (Bobby) Chapman of Jefferson, Tammy (Scott) Stewart of Maysville, David Tullis (Paul Filush) of Flowery Branch, and Teresa (David Allen) Hagelthorn of Flowery Branch. She leaves six grandchildren, Dr. Jerry (Gina) Rice of Jefferson, Amanda Rice Dalton of Murrayville, Timothy Faircloth of Maysville, Andy (Melissa) Chapman of Gainesville, Matt (Heather) Chapman of Buford, and Ethan Hagelthorn of Flowery Branch. She had three step-grandchildren which she always considered her own, Kendall Heard of Flowery Branch, Brooke Stewart-Quarmby of Fayetteville, and Jessica Allen of Monroe. She has two surviving sisters-in-law, Wilma Compton Titshaw of Buford and Sarah Deaton Hill of Winder. She also leaves seventeen great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Level Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Andy Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends at Flanigan Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023.
